By Train to the Airport
The train station is located below the airport, and from there you have direct access to the terminal. This is the most convenient way to get to the airport from Helsinki and the surrounding area, to avoid driving and parking fees. The only other option is the bus, which has a similar travel time depending on where you board the bus. However, the train has several departures from the main suburban stations, and two lines go to the airport, the P-line and the I-line. The most commonly used connections to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport are Tikkurila, Pasila and Lahti.

Schedules to get to and from the station can be found below. Unfortunately, Helsinki-Vantaa Airport only has HSL train connections. This means that you must first travel to Helsinki or the surrounding area to get to the airport by train, if you live far from the capital. There are no long-distance trains to the airport.
That’s why it’s worth first checking the best connection usually to Pasila or Helsinki Central Station, and from there by local train to the airport according to the schedule below. Starting with departures from the airport to other stations. I-trains run counterclockwise (Helsinki-Tikkurila-Airport-Myyrmäki-Helsinki) and P-trains clockwise (Helsinki-Myyrmäki-Airport-Tikkurila-Helsinki). Trains stop at all stations.

Price
The price of getting to the airport depends on which local train station you board the train from. You can travel to the airport using a long-distance train ticket (including season and series tickets) if you choose Helsinki-Vantaa Airport as your destination. Your train ticket includes a transfer to a local train that takes you directly to the airport. The transfer time for long-distance tickets is 80 minutes. So you have 80 minutes to board the local train to the airport. And in this case, the price of the local train is already included in the price.

For those traveling from local train zones, please note that the airport train station is located in Zone C. And therefore the most common routes usually run from Pasila or Helsinki Central Station, which are located in Zone A. So you need to buy an ABC ticket. If, on the other hand, you are closer to Zone B or D, you only need to buy a two-zone ticket, in this case BC or CD. You can see the prices for each ticket and the zone map below.

The Ring Rail Line was created when the Vantaankoski railway and the main railway were connected by a new 18-kilometer transverse railway. Five new stations were opened: Kivistö, Aviapolis, Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, Leinelä and Vehkala. Opened in 2015, the Ring Rail Line is one of the most significant public transport projects in the history of the Helsinki region.
