Imatra Central Traffic Station, as it is also known, is a large hub that houses part of Finland’s rail network as well as a bus line used by the population. Inside the station there are also other services that you can use if you head there.

Imatra is located right on the border of two city districts: between Mansikkala and Tainionkoski, along Koskitie. The station was completed in 1977, and it still serves as a means of transport for more than 180,000 people annually.

Imatra’s railway system consists of 1 platform track and 1 bypass track, with 2 platform displays. This is because there is basically no loading activity.

However, Imatra consists of three stations, which are divided as follows: Imatrankoski station, Vuoksenniska station and the current central traffic station.

Train Tickets

VR ticket sales were discontinued in 2014, but tickets can still be purchased from the ticket machine located inside the station building.

Remember that different ticket options are available depending on the characteristics of the service or how often you use the train. As an example, here are the available options:

In addition to trains, the station also has a travel center that handles bus traffic. From there you can travel to the capital, different parts of Finland and even further afield.

Parking Spaces on Train and Luggage Parking at Station

Finland’s larger stations usually have a train transport service. This way you can take your vehicle with you. Imatra does not yet have this service, but you can get it if you are going to Helsinki or some other nearby station where it is available.

Luggage parking at the station is not available. Unfortunately, you have to keep your belongings close at all times when your train arrives.

No Luggage Lockers

Imatra Railway Station does not have luggage storage lockers where you can store your belongings while you do activities such as visiting museums or going to restaurants. In this case, it is best to stay close to your belongings so that when the train arrives, you can board it quickly.
