The railway system consists of 3 platform tracks. However, there are 9 other sidings that are not in use. As for the routes at Lappeenranta station, long-distance trains from Helsinki and Joensuu pass through the station.
Although these usually stop on track 1, in reality the Pendolino S 105/106 to Helsinki uses track 3, and IC 12 uses track 3 when it is not in use. This is because track 1 is the only one with a raised platform, while tracks 2 and 3 do not.
