Riihimäki Railway Station
Riihimäki station is one of the originally planned stations on the Helsinki-Hämeenlinna railway opened in 1862. It is one of the traffic hubs of Finland’s railway network, located specifically in the city of Riihimäki.
It is currently located along the Helsinki – Riihimäki, Riihimäki – Tampere and Riihimäki – Lahti railways. The operators are the VR Group. In 2018, a renovation process for the passenger yard was carried out. Part of the renovation continued in the following years.

The railway system at Riihimäki Railway Station consists of 6 platform tracks, which are: Tracks 1, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 11; plus 5 other bypass tracks. It also has 9 platform sections.

- Track 1 – Long-distance trains, T-trains and some R-trains going to Helsinki
- Track 4 – Long-distance trains and some R-trains heading to Tampere
- Track 5 – D-trains and some R- and T-trains to Helsinki and Tampere
- Track 7 – R- and G-trains. The first morning train (D) usually uses this track to Helsinki
- Track 8 – G-trains to Lahti
Tracks 2, 3 and 6 are not normally used due to the lack of a platform. They are actually used by trains that only pass through the station.

Some larger stations have a car transport service inside the station. Unfortunately, this service is not available at Riihimäki Railway Station. You can use it, for example, at Helsinki Central Railway Station.
If you want to go to public places such as museums, parks and restaurants, you will need to take your belongings with you, as there are no luggage parking spaces at the station.
No Luggage Lockers
Unfortunately, the station still does not have lockers, i.e. cabinets, where you could store your belongings when doing something at or outside the station. Therefore, we recommend that you keep an eye on your belongings and keep them close so you can board the train as soon as it arrives.
Assistance Service at the Station
In addition to public toilets and a small waiting room, Riihimäki Railway Station has a 24-hour assistance service.
This information point is located on the city side of the Riihimäki station building, right at the mouth of the Peltosaari metro tunnel. In the immediate vicinity of the point, you can navigate with the help of a canopy. If you are going to use this service, keep these points essential:
