Passenger trains running between Seinäjoki and Oulu stop at Ylivieska station. Many of them change to local trains towards Iisalmi.
Ylivieska railway station has 3 platform tracks. Most trains to Helsinki and Oulu depart from track 1, while track 2 is used for Helsinki and one train to Rovaniemi. Track 3 runs early in the morning to Helsinki from Monday to Friday. However, tracks 2 and 3 also run local trains to Iisalmi.

Ticket sales at Ylivieska station are handled by ticket machines. These are located inside the station, so you can buy them from the same building. See our detailed guide on Finnish trains here.

Once you have your ticket, you can use the open waiting room, where passengers can take shelter until the train arrives. It is available Monday to Sunday from 5:20 AM to midnight.

Parking on the Train
There is parking space on the train, so you can take your car with you on your trip. However, Ylivieska railway station does not have this service. You can park your car at Helsinki Central Station. You can also check the website for which other stations offer this service.
No Luggage Storage Available
Unfortunately, Ylivieska railway station does not have luggage lockers. Therefore, we recommend that you take care of your belongings so you can board the train without problems when it arrives.
If you need assistance, you can request it at the station. The help desk is located on platform 1, right at the Oulu end of the station. The point has a roof.
